On Thursday, July 11, the Divest CalSTRS campaign is gathering CalSTRS members at the Investment Committee meeting in Sacramento, to demand divestment of our pension from toxic fossil fuels. We would especially like to include active teachers (who are usually unable to come, during the school year). We hope you’ll be able to join us.
Plan to arrive by 3 pm on Thursday, July 11, to make public comment, at CalSTRS headquarters, 100 Waterfront Pl, West Sacramento, CA 95605-2807
At the last meeting of the CalSTRS Investment Committee, we teamed up with Earth Guardians, Youth Vs. Apocalypse, and Warriors 4 Justice. The youth brought incredible energy, making it impossible for the Board to ignore the urgency of the climate crisis. We were so powerful, they shut down their live feed! Many of the students pledged to keep coming back until the board votes to divest – so please, if you can, join us on July 11 and help us to spread the word. Share this event with your friends — and reach out in particular to teachers, school staff, and STRS retirees.

Fossil Free California wants CalSTRS to be the next big fund to divest – so we have hired campaign staff, and joined forces with the youth #ClimateStrike movement (Earth Guardians, Youth vs. Apocalypse, Sunrise Movement, and Warriors 4 Justice). Together, we are taking the we hope you’ll join us.to a new level, and
Please join us in Sacramento, July 11. And please help us spread the word to the teachers you know, and encourage them to attend. The time for divestment is now.
